We are happy to support this great project by OASIS NPC
The hospitality industry is a growing sector in South Africa and, therefore, has the potential for creating a large number of sustainable jobs in the economy. The industry provides numerous career growth opportunities for hard working and talented individuals and does not always require candidates to have a tertiary qualification. It is, therefore, an ideal industry to facilitate access to the economy for a large number of previously disadvantaged individuals.
We developed a training programme in collaboration with Mido Technologies, Lize Botha & Associates and Maze Academy) to assist in the education and skills development of individuals looking to obtain employment in the hospitality industry.
The programme focuses on three main components:
- Heart-People-Work Readiness: Personal branding, professionalism and career planning.
- Hospitality training: Theory and practical application of Accommodation and Food & Beverage service principles.
- Computer literacy and hospitality systems training (Opera PMS).
We have partnered with other Non-Profit Organisations (NPOs) such as the Amy Foundation, SA Ubuntu Foundation and Bergzicht College in order to identify and screen suitable candidates for this programme.
A student that has completed this course is equipped to fulfil multiple positions within the hospitality industry such as a receptionist, waiter, room attendant and porter.
We have a 70% success rate of course attendees gaining full time employment, while the remainder are absorbed into further study programmes with associate NPOs.
We aim to cater to 16 students per course.
